Grid-side Energy Storage Project
1) Customer Challenges: The Fengxian area power grid in Jiangsu faces escalating power supply pressures, characterized by a pronounced peak-valley load disparity. Concurrently, the increasing penetration of renewable energy sources presents challenges to grid frequency stability. The local power system urgently requires a flexible resource capable of efficient peak shaving and valley filling, as well as rapid frequency regulation, to comprehensively enhance grid operational reliability and power quality.
2) Solution: Delivering a containerized energy storage system with a total capacity of 50MW/115MWh.

3) Operating Mode: The project serves as a flexible regulation resource on the grid side, subject to centralized dispatch by the grid operator. It discharges during daytime peak load periods to participate in peak shaving; It charges during nighttime valley load periods to achieve valley filling, effectively smoothing the regional net load curve. Meanwhile, the system operates continuously online, responding in real time to the grid’s automatic generation control signals, rapidly and precisely absorbing or releasing power to provide primary and secondary frequency regulation and other ancillary services, thereby directly enhancing grid frequency stability.
4) Implementation Results: Since commissioning, the project has significantly enhanced the regulation capacity and operational reliability of the Fengxian area power grid. By employing “peak shaving and valley filling,” the pressure on peak power supply was mitigated, thereby improving the utilization efficiency of transmission and distribution infrastructure; Rapid frequency regulation effectively suppressed power grid frequency fluctuations, thereby enhancing the grid’s capability to handle sudden power changes and variability from renewable energy sources.
